Ephemeral States of the Russian Civil War.

Ephemeral  is a something which last for the very short time.  And when you talked about the countries which are last a vary short time due the events happened in a history. Makes you think  -  what if  they survived what would be their future and what imprint they would make in a world history or at least on the local scale.   Check out the snap shot of good two and a half  dozen countries which pop out (as a mushrooms after summer rain)  after fall of the Russian Empire in a late second decade of the 20th century. La legge è legge

Borders is a very fascinating subject in a today’s political geography. Don’t you think it interesting to find out how one country end and another one starts  after particular invisible line would be drown on the land. Unintentionally come to the mind one of Franco-Italian movie classics La Legge è legge  ( The law is a law 1958), and a first intro by the narrator behind the screen wittingly asking  a the film viewer of the peculiarity  of particular border between France and Italy. The answer is so trivial and obviously simple which makes the move a marvel of European cinema in a mid-20th century. The border looks like this because the land which belongs to France should be French, and the land which belongs to Italy got to be Italian. That would be so simple if it would not be so hard, and borders tend to change its geographical positions on a pretty regular bases. Check my recent discovery in a world of maps, and you will understand what this talk is about. If you want to see the map in details
open it up in a separate window by clicking right button on the mouse and piking
the appropriate option on the menu. Then use the scroll wheel on the mouse to
zoom the map in and out , while holding Ctrl button on the keyboard.

Greenland vs. Iceland

Most of the times it is easier to see than to understand the description of the certain concept. This example is a good prove of listed above statement. See it for yourself.  Greenland is east as well as west of Iceland. The same thing could be said about north and south comparison.  Greenland is north as well as south of Iceland too. Other curious  fact is that Iceland is in Europe and Greenland is in North America, however listed above statement and a map below direct prove that some places in Greenland are east of Iceland. Cool and Curious, isn’t it.
